Hamsters, again?

Hamsters, again?

First vinyl I ever bought (it was, uh, 2009). AV Club used to have "Sound & Vision" articles about interesting uses of pop music in film, and I was hooked by the one about "Late For the Sky" in "Taxi Driver". The scene made me really appreciate both Jackson Browne and Martin Scorsese for the first time.

Their first two albums before Teen Dream are moodier and more idiosyncratic but just as consistent, so don't miss out on that.

"Visiting Friends" is a gorgeous track. I hesitate to even call it a song because there's so little structure and instrumentation to it, but what's there is effectively eerie yet soothing. I love the slightly asynchronous, double-tracked acoustic guitars and the half-asleep vocal burbling.

Stop hoping.

The Doctor's adventures in the past

I hope I'll have prepared an illuminating childhood anecdote by the time I've finally blossomed into a super-villain.
