Holmes isn't trademarked. The attempts to trademark his name have either been rejected or still in dispute.

Felt Pelt:

You can explain away the fact that Topher stays, and there couldn't be a timer, by saying that the device had to be fine tuned during the ignition sequence. So Topher starts the ignition, which takes maybe 30 seconds, makes some quick adjustments, then has time to stand up and turn around before the ignition process

Also , Rossum's got offices, and Dollhouses, in probably every major country.

Amy Acker's new show, "Happy Town," has been scheduled as a mid-season show on ABC for 2010.

Trademarks aren't the same thing as copyrights.

Sephiroth, I think you have the argument in A Case of Need reversed. Crichton wasn't prophesying what would happen if abortion was banned; when he wrote the book, abortion WAS banned in most of the US. Roe V Wade wasn't until '73. So Crichton wasn't predicting anything, but rather was describing the (then) current

The movie "Brazil" was named after the song "Brazil," which was probably named after the country.

As for Bennett and Caroline's history, here's my take:

Not so coincidentally, Universal was a big pusher of the HD DVD/DVD combo disc format. Back then, the combo discs typically had a MSRP of about $5 more than most HD DVD only discs.

"Point being, why hasn't a similar format evolved for movies?"

The second option is wrong, it's not a "Blu-ray DVD," but a "Blu-ray Disc," or BD for short.

As the original article introducing this feature series stated, it was inspired by Danny Peary's Cult Movies books, the last one being published in 1988. So I believe any film from 1989-now is considered fair game.

Article Error
In the article, there's the paragraph that starts "When Army Of Darkness opens, our hero has vanquished evil and retreated to the humble mission of clerking at a department store…"

I've bought it 4 times. The VHS, the original Limited Edition 2-disc DVD, the Region 3 DVD with longer directors cut and better image, and the HD DVD. I'll have to get it on Blu-ray at some point.

Amnesia Moon is Lethem's most PKD-like novel, reminding me a lot of Deus Irae. I also like As She Crawled Across the Table and Motherless Brooklyn, although the latter is not fantastic at all.

Does anyone have the edited PG version DVD? I saw that in stores once and it seemed so odd to me that the studio would re-edit a PG-13 movie to PG and release it on DVD.

Couldn't someone who wants to know that just, you know, scroll to the bottom first before reading the article? I've done that on a few things I didn't feel like reading the whole review/article of.

It's fun, but a bit cloying. Pretty much every defining characteristic of adult Indy was apparently developed within a 30 minute period of one day of his adolescence . Which isn't how real life works.

There is no Director's Cut of Aliens, aside from the theatrical cut. There's the "Special Edition" cut, but it's not a Director's Cut.
