Besides money, there's also social status and other things.  I would imagine people who just sit on their butt and go to the holodeck to whack it are kind of looked down on.

Why?  I think one of the most appealing things about Star Trek is that it is semi-utopian.  That's very much the vision of Trek.  Without that, it would be a totally different show.

Well, heavy duty advanced industrial equipment like soil reclamators and industrial replicators are probably harder to make then simple goods like food and clothes.

On the other hand, if the things can be made at no cost, people probably make more then they need and forget which files are on which (and in a military setting it would have some sense to not have everything automatically link)

I really liked the mythological stuff, especially how it related to Sisko so personally and the idea of hope and idealism and possibility and star trek (much more on this when we get to Far Beyond the Stars)

The redone effects are cool, but the makeup looks weird.

Seeing the actress on Freaks and Geeks, I had a hard time thinking of her as anything other then Winn.
