Yeah, I was really hoping for a less racist do-over.
I live in NYC and about the most accurate thing you could say about Starbucks (and most retail) here is it's mostly staffed by young black people, pretty much no matter where you go. However, that's not especially amusing, and I've never had surly service at an NYC…
Green Hornet is mildly enjoyable, but not much more.
I thought his tone was good enough to establish what the joke was, but to each their own, I suppose.
I had the opposite feeling, I thought it was kinda nice that they didn't really even do a gay joke, their husbands just wave like doofuses and we move on.
Catholics, as a group, are not as against gay marriage as other religious groups. Just sayin.
This was my stone-cold favorite episode of the last dozen or so I've watched, most of which were lackluster. I think it's the high quality of Phil's scenes that does it.
I dunno, do we really have to pretend that there aren't loads of people who use bisexuality as a 'cool signifier' because we're trying to be even-handed? It's part of the culture whether we pretend it isn't or not, like members of Congress who pretend not to be gay.
Yeah, fantastic line.
@InterplanetJanet:disqus Yeah, if they had actually bothered to portray any of that I think it would have added a lot of depth. It's weird they think it's compelling to force every character to do a complete 180 every 3 or 4 episodes when some disposable member of the opposite sex shows up.
Also "I'm finally ready to settle down" is just weird. He's been saying that for eight years, and through much more interesting character work than this.
Yeah, really, what was this. This was one was at least fitfully funny, but when they try to use the playbook as character development instead of a running gag, it really strains credibility. Am I really supposed to care that Barney had a second playbook? Who cares? Their character development is so weak. And then he…
Gotta love Marky Mark's "No BS! It's a tie!"
What's… wrong with her teeth? Are they remarkable?
I generally hate Seth MacFarlane (although I kinda enjoyed the awards show, honestly), but the man's showmanship is beyond criticism. He goes 100% at all times, and his singing is ridiculous. Good for a low-energy night like the Oscars.
If it was hilarious? Yes, that's fine.
Now THAT is an appropriate punishment for the Onion. Fun for everyone.
Hicks did have some dipshit opinions, but I feel like his overarching outlook made up for it.
@avclub-84ca205fe6bc691c41c3bfe5a2820a15:disqus Agreed, and the opposite is super true too. There are way too many people who I got along with great online, but when we met up I didn't want to spend an hour with them (and vice versa).
This is the exact opposite of my experience.
