He doesn't know Dexter is the BHB. He knows Dexter has "a darkness." Buck said so in an interview.

Yeah, the greatest misfire of the finale is that Dexter realizing he's a monster still involves him being a hero in the writers' eyes.
"But compared to what TV offers on a day to day basis, it still passed in my opinion."
Sad part is those two still had more chemistry than Dexter and Hannah.
Their obsession with avoiding the obvious ending fucked up the whole season. You know what recent TV show had the most predictable finale ever? Spartacus. You know what TV show had one of the most kickass and satisfying finales ever? Spartacus. Sometimes the obvious route is obvious for a reason.
***THE SHIELD SPOILERS***
They say it's because Hannah only kills for "preservation." So she'd kill to protect Harrison. But they seem to have totally forgotten that literally EVERY MURDER WE'VE SEEN HANNAH DO she only had to "kill for self-preservation" because people were trying to arrest her for MURDERING PEOPLE.
Our good friend TVDW just tweeted this interview:
I've watched probably 80 seasons worth of serialized dramas since I got into TV. Dexter season 8 is by several orders of magnitude the worst season I've ever watched. It was a worse final season than Power Rangers in Space.

He had a life boat. No, seriously. That was Scott Buck's explanation. But Dexter wasn't planning on using the life boat as he sailed towards it.
I have to say, the title of this episode is actually really fucking awesome, and the way they integrated it into the episode was so stupid I groaned.
I said it before and I'll say it again. DO IT!
I am a better writer than this man. We all are.
Do it again, JesusMonroe. FOR ALL OF US!
I'm really baffled by the fake ending now. It had details that only an inside person would know (Them flying to Rio first). Did Showtime leak a fake ending just to throw people off? If so, why would they make it so fucking awful? To adjust expectation accordingly?
This was 2 season finales in a row where they seemingly added flashbacks that had no fucking point to the episode.
As annoying as the two supposed leaks were, at least they had either Matthews or Quinn knowing all along so they weren't fucking dumbasses. Now…nothing. Fuck nuggets.
Comparing the last 10 minutes of Six Feet Under to the last 10 minutes of Dexter is…Jesus fuck there are no words.
