Except like the last 3 murders she has committed she was only in a situation where she had to self-preserve because she'd committed so many murders. That aint sympathetic in my eyes.

For number 6 you forgot about Sal Price. But it's okay. Deb did too.

You can really see the writers stepping out of their comfort zone with the Jamie/Quinn plot. If they knew there was gonna be a 9th season, season 8 would have ended with the two of them promising to make it work, then they would break up off screen and someone would ask Quinn why he and Jamie broke up in the season 9

Agreed. For me, the only redeemable part of this episode was Deb/Dexter's conversation about him moving to Argentina. Because Deb calling Dexter out on his shit is always good.

Neither of them are good though.

"Batista Daydreaming About Hats" is the spinoff.

Dexter: My passenger used to be dark…but I'm afraid I just blue myself.
Deb: Fucking fuck nuggets, Dexter. There's gotta be a better fucking way to say that.

So really Vogel as a character had no goddamn point. I don't care that she invented the code, it changes nothing about the series. I don't care that she says Dexter isn't the perfect psychopath (pukes) because he "has feelings." We. Fucking. Know. that Dexter has feelings. We've been over this before. She didn't

Power Rangers in Space had more interesting characters and more momentum than Dexter season 8.

We need to draw special attention to the fact that Batista called Quinn a stupid idiot unironically. The writers wrote that.

But we already had two other brilliant one liners come up from earlier:

Hannah: It's just with you and killing, feelings never really came into the equation.

I was a total pussy when it came to scary shows/movies as a kid, but I still loved watching AYAOTD.

@avclub-e086ba7ac9a84f22886b23261220974e:disqus To make the hot comparison, season 5.2 of Breaking Bad had seven writers on staff. Six of them were also on staff in season 2. (Season 1 wouldn't really be an apt comparison since it was 7 episodes and Gilligan wrote 4 of them)

Not really. The only season 8 writers who were on staff in season 1 are Tim Schlattman and Lauren Gussis. The other six are different.

Goddammit. Look at the lighting. Look at the way Dexter is toying and taunting his victim. Look at the way the kids are layed out and how the show lets us figure out what the fuck is going on instead of telling us blatantly. If the season 8 writers wrote that scene, it'd sound like this:

Nope. Showtime decided to be really smart and take a week off, so that the finale will air on the same night as the Emmys.

"Slog"? Sorry, but I just don't get that. I was hooked from the pilot, and season 2 as a whole was great, with several amazing episodes.

Scott Buck plays the long con.

That bit is troubling to me. Burr explained on a podcast or something that that whole bit you were supposed to get that he was totally being full of shit and awful, but I'm worried  that the people who liked it were like "Yeah, Bill! You tell em!"
