Agreed. I will say however that Graham Greene's "The Destructors" was one of the coolest things I ever had to read in a high school class.

What about Hemingway and Graham Greene? Specifically "The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber" and "The Destructors" ? Both of those are pretty epic.

That sounds like an epic class. I had to read all of those on my own.
