What about the truly goddawful score?
My wife and I were rolling in laughter the whole episode (and we've been hardcore devotees of the show since season 1). To all of you who said this episode had no laughs — are we watching different shows? Have you all come down with changnesia?
You're not — there's a contingent of film music scholars and critics who, while recognizing the high compositional quality of Bernstein's score, question his cinematic instincts and note that several scenes (particularly dialogue scenes) are pointedly over-scored.

Truly awesome film. One or two of the most long-lastingly horrifying images I've ever seen are in the film's final act. But it's worth it. Definitely not for everyone though.
Quail is not a "fucking pigeon." Quails belong to the bird order Galliformes, pigeons and other doves to the order Columbidae. Such invidious inaccuracies must not be allowed to besmirch the factual precision of the internet!
Here here! Great work as always from the incomparable Shirley Walker. With all the great composers who passed away, the 2000's were a fucking terrible decade for film music.
Perhaps this show will some day veer into Alan Partridge territory, with Jenny McCarthy inadvertently shooting one of her guests to death with an antique musket. THEN I'd watch.
