All the AIP's are good fun with a couple of beers and fast-forward for the tougher bits, but Bingo stands out: witty, sly, and winking hard. Don Rickles' character does a Rickles-style stand up, giving Frankie a ration about being too old for the scene. And Jody MCrea rocks the Roth Rat Fink logo at every opportunity

"The Day" etc. clearly was thrown at Davy to cement that make-the-little-girls-wet-'em appeal and I'd like to think he hated it too. But let's be positive here: "When Love Comes Knocking", with it's contrapuntal vocal arrangements, reaches bliss. Thanks to this discussion, I played it again for the first time in, O,

Let's not so quickly dismiss those first 2 lp's. We're talking bedrock here. You had four unique voices for a variety of lead tones, guys like Neil Diamond and Boyce/Hart and
King/ Goffin writing songs. What could go wrong? And if the label had session cats doing the heavy lifting, welcome to the state of the industry
