Like many people, I didn't see Master and Commander; but I also remember publications I trust making me feel guilty about it, so at least some people liked it a lot.
I must confess to not actually having seen it yet. I was close last week, but it looks like it will have to wait for the DVD release now.
I would love it if he called his tour that.
Look at it from another perspective, Iron Man 3 opened the season, the reviewer most likely had mostly seen rather good, or at least different from the summer template, movies for the previous few months, but with every week comes a new blockbuster, and their standards are lowered accordingly, if it was released in…
I can see that, as he was a fairly "young" director, the commercial results mighht have been the final nail in his coffin, without any critical attention to make up for it.
But I really liked it, the art school bits were really well done, and as silly as the serial killer bit was, it went all in for it and treated it…
I remember seeing the 2,000+ figure and finding it quite impressive, it's even more so in such a relatively short amount of time.
Which brings the question: when did your movie fandom start (and/or how long has it been), and how do you define it (number of movies you watch/attention and research)?
He cops out by saying they're not his favourites, they're what he expects the year-end lists to look like.

Lost Highway is the only one I've bought and still listen to.
Gilmore Girls is awesome!
But in those cases, we know what is or isn't from the "original" composer from the beginning; to take Mahler's 10th, Deryck Cooke's is the most commonly performed completion, but it is just one among others, and it is not widely accepted either (even if it has its champions).
It's possible to correct or disagree with people without sounding like a dick, you may want to try it sometimes.
Do authors not get anything when books are borrowed? They do in the UK, but that might be an exception.
Yeah, it's not about getting drunk, it's more a nice thing to have now and then.
Thanks, but I'm more interested in the ones that retail around three figures around here. That still seems fairly cheaper though, the entry level Japanese stuff goes for about 50% more around here.
