This is the first time I read that Iron Man 2 wasn't liked. To me it ranks exactly like any other Marvel movies (I haven't seen Hulk), I had fun watching it, but once was probably enough, I'll still happily watch the new ones.

@bumpcollege: we saw Scarlett Johanson wearing tight pants, wasn't that the point?

@avclub-c26473f2f4772a2a52e4690515ce6e75:disqus not sure (and as @avclub-5a1c0dcc8243c086c74ee944052f6f0f:disqus implies, probably impossible to know), but the active commentariat would hardly be more than a couple of thousand people, Gary X might have the closest answer with the Commie voters database (assuming

He WAS into reading, that was an egregious retcon. He might not have read Anna Karenina or Jane Austen without Rory's recommendations, but he was reading, most likely the same books Jess likes (he tells Rory she should read Hunter S. Thompson).

When summer comes, it is basically lemonade, you order it by the jug and just keep drinking; asking a friend once what the appeal of cricket was, she very eloquently replied: the game lasts all day you, just spend the day in a park with friends drinking Pimm's.

She was quite fun to hang out with initially; but even then I couldn't help thinking that the sex would never be mind-bending enough to compensate,

Thanks (to everyone), that's where it comes from yes. Weirdly, people who rave about the NY one seem to agree the London one is a mistep.
Side note, if anyone is ever in London and is looking for good and reasonably priced French food, Zedel in Piccadilly Circus is worth visiting.

We celebrated the return of the sun with a picnic, sum total of the offerings was carrot salad, maeianted herring, humus, basil and pecorino dip, fried chicken, prawn and avocado salad, spinach filled Lebanese pastries, cured meats, clementine for desserts and some rose wine.

Good luck! I hope it goes well.

Vocabulary question.
The much hyped Balthazar just opened in London, it's a French brasserie type place, and the menu is in French, or at least it's meant to be, the mains are labelled entrées on the menu, which is enough to ensure I will never set foot there (it's apparently far from worth the price anyway).
However,

The punchline is my favourite part.

While I'm even less qualified than Britta, she is the one person I've met of whom I can say with absolute certainty that she is a psychopath.

Had a porter that had been in bourbon casks (from M&S for people living in the UK), it was very nice, I was worried the bourbon wouldn't be noticeable, but it gave a really nice touch.

Not quite dates, as will be clear, but close enough (she was hot), and definitely among the worst interactions I've ever had with anyone.

Work tales thread

How many of his books has there been in between?
I find that Roth is one the few authors where the books, while not serials, are better read in the order they were written (especially for Ghost Writer until Operation Shylock, with Portnoy before that).

For something most likely no one here has read, I'd also recommend books by a French author called Eric Chevillard, I see the Crab Nebula, Palafox, and Demolishing Nisard are available in English, they happen to be some of his best and most accessible (the first two in particular). The books are quite short, the

My usual "I don't know what to read these days" usually ends up being some P.G. Wodehouse, it's short and light, very well written and rather funny.
I've mostly read the Jeeves and Wooster so far, you can't go wrong with any random one, but I seem to remember either a primer or gateway somewhere on this site.

Which might have turned in them not caring, one of my favourite jokes in the whole series is in the game episode, rather than the ridiculously obscure questions, Monica and Rachel lose because they didn't know what his job was, "He's a transpnder!"
There was actually a later joke before he goes in advertising, Monica

You should try to catch 8 Women or Potiche, they are quite funny.
