It depends where exactly you are looking, in London or Paris, if you know where to look, you should be able to find absolutely anything, but a friend living in Italy routinely complains that he's unable to find anything remotely "ethnic" and they don't really do spicy, he routinely craves the most basic Thai or Indian

Happy to do opera next week.
I am tempted to have separate successive threads for arias, maybe overtures?, recordings, stagings in order to be as inclusive as possible and not run out themes/repeat too quickly

I'm pretty sure it's ignorance rather than deliberate false advertising, I wondered if maybe it might have something to do with them buying scotch to create a blend (not that I know this is what they're doing), as I think some Japanese distilleries do that, but even then, I'm pretty sure it's not called scotch.
Supersti

Nice, it's a shame the complete score is not performed more often, it's not like it's that long. I wish a company nearby performed the actual ballet too.

Not much to add to what @LurkyMcLurkerson:disqus and @avclub-55ab1e0836b46cc575ee502254e68ea9:disqus said. To this day, my Sleeping Beauty/Previn CD is probably the one I've listened to the most.

I haven't tried Great King Street, but so far all I've had from Compass Box has been good to great (Asyla, Peat Monster, and Hedonism, slowly making my way through their range, Hedonism is a bit more expensive than that but goes down a treat).
Though I'm fairly new to whisky, I've had a handful of very good single

It is http://doubs-direct.fr/bout…, my father bought it driving back from Switzerland. To make matters more confusing, the website seems to think blend is a colour, anyway it was very good, I expect he'll have finished the bottle by the end of the month, but I'll try to see if he can get more next time he's in the

Aharon Appelfeld's Story of a Life

I'm jealous re Glass, it was performed last year, but by the time I tried to book there weren't any ticket I could afford.
And I love Shostakovich, it sometimes seems his harshest critics are just upset that he's popular (kinda like with Tchaikovsky or Mendelssohn); but his music can be so powerful, or playful, or

Tchaikovsky's (ballet) music is great, it's so gorgeous and varied enough that even the full scores are a delight to listen to; I personnally prefer Sleeping Beauty though, I'll never forget the first time I heard, I'd actually gone to see the ballet, the first few bars certainly made me pay attention.
And Prokofiev's

It's not from the isle of Jura, it's from France, close to Switzerland and Germany. i just assumed the producers were very well-meaning and copied whatever they saw on their favourite bottle.

Whisky!
I recently tried a French whisky from the Jura region called Jurassic and was quite impressed, the label described it as blended scotch which seems wrong to quite a few level unless they are hiding a few things, the description on the label was vague, butit hinted at single malt rather than blend, and I'm not

Classical Music thread

I definitely remember the anticipation for "…hours" announcing a return to form along the lines of "at last back to pop/rock songs", however I don't recall it lasting that much longer after the release of the album, whereas I remember reviews of Reality stating it was a continuation of the return to form of Heathen.

I haven't actually listened to it yet, but I remember the "return to greatness" tags being thrown around for Heathen and Reality which really didn't deserve it, Outside was much better than those two, and even Earthling seemed more interesting.
I'll wait a little for the noise to die down with this one and see then

Yep, Outside is good. Happy to see people who even just know it exists.

I just want to add a word in favour of Outside, it's really worth a listen (or more).

I just started a rewatch for the first time since they initially aired (currently end of first season) so can't offer a really informed opinion on the whole series, but I remember that season six went a bit heavier on the humour which made it quite enjoyable to watch, it took me a bit longer to lose interest.
And

200 pages into Against The Day. I don't think I'm lost yet and it's pretty fun.
