You know, I just read that they get royalties in the U.K. In the U.S., library copies are purchased like any other book, and then that's it…And here's a quote from The Guardian: Under Public Lending Right (PLR) legislation, authors are paid each time their books are borrowed from a library. Although the sum is a mere

I love Chabon and all his enthusiasms. However, I opened Manhood at the bookstore for a look-see, saw the word murse, quickly shut it, and said, "Let's just both forget that happened." I blame Ayelet, probably unfairly.

There is no longer a B&N in San Francisco. Lots of great locally owned bookstores who I love to support but they don't do movies. I was reminded that Amoeba Records has some.

Hey guys in the United States, what brick and mortar stores carry DVDs nowadays? Does Best Buy still carry a lot? I haven't been in years. The other place I can think of is the record store but then I will be too tempted. I know Target has new releases.

It's all right. You won't be the last.

On the one hand, animal exploitation…on the other, strip cub? How cute is that?

Agreed, all the way up to the "Tetherboy" line. The action after that was unnecessarily drawn out.

I thought it was from the Sesame Street Dune parody. "With rhythm…without rhythm…"

"I Don't Want to Live on the Dark Side of the Moon"

If you find it hard to get three hours to yourself to watch a movie, and it's something you would want to see on the big screen, I vote for Interstellar. Go see Big Hero with your kid some other day. (Depending on age of kid.)

Out of curiosity, which movie would you have seen first? I don't know which order I would prefer.

My condolences. Glad you are thinking about a creative outlet. Do it!

Yet another reminder to check them out…a woman at work enthusiastically recommended them a few weeks ago.

I liked the soundtrack, too. Even though it was completely bombastic, I thought I'd enjoy listening to it at home.

Gotcha. I was sitting for this show, which I don't normally do, and it seemed more appropriate than rocking back and forth a little bit on the main floor. However, my leg got a weird tic partway through from tapping my foot and wanting to move more.

How about taking a walk about town with an onion on your belt? They will find you! (And I hope you do re-connect.)

I think this is beautiful! and I hope you are now friends forever, seconds in duels, and give the eulogy at each other's funerals.

I'm not gonna read the rest of your post because I haven't watched Friday's episode yet…your characterization of "Team No-Fun" seems exactly right. They aren't cheaters, they aren't outright mean, and I've been having a hard time describing why they bug me so much.

Slowdive/Low Kind of like a Phil Lesh show for 90's indie kids? Slowdive was pleasantly overwhelming. I enjoyed Low more because the songs varied and also because I was so surprised to be enjoying them. I saw them way back when they first started out in Minneapolis and was so bored, I never gave them another chance.

Here's some positivity: I firmly believe you will think it was worth watching.
