I get that Grease was tailored to John Travolta because he was Hollywood's hot property at the time, even if he didn't have theater-quality vocal chops. But come on, there must have been someone available to play Pierce Brosnan's role in Mamma Mia who had a decent singing voice and a comparable level of star power.

Ah, Grease. There's a lot to like about it, but ultimately I hate the message that being Olivia Newton-John - one of the most beautiful, talented women in the world - isn't good enough. You have to start smoking and dress like a whore before the gang will truly accept you.

I agree that the show has a better reputation than it deserved, and that's partly because the cast was so likable, and partly because when they hit their highs nothing could touch them. I don't think anything on television has ever made me laugh like the Eunice (Family) sketches. Even now I check YouTube regularly

She's also the only artist I've ever grieved for. When she died it really was as if I'd lost a friend, and I remember saying to myself "so this is what all those Lennon fans have been going on about."

1. It was a real treat to see this piece, especially on this song which is not only important in terms of her later work but fun as hell. Sure, I wish she'd become a household name and I absolutely wish she'd recorded more but I like the fact that she was all over the place in terms of style.

With all due respect to Mr. Oz, keep in mind that he also gave us the Kidman/Broderick remake of the Stepford Wives. I don't think he's in any position to talk trash.
