I loved that part in the book and was disappointed it wasn't in the film, felt a little better in that they at least shot the scene and didn't forget about it entirely.

Control+F: "The Why Store"….kidding.
There actually is the original short version that came as one of the bonus features. I still like the feature version better with one exception: In the short, when they have the argument after the bar and Deacon gets mad and flies home…the joke about flying home drunk is conveyed a lot better.
My gut hurt so hard watching that scene…such perfectly timed comedy.
My wife heard about it and I scoffed when she paid TEN DOLLARS for it through iTunes.
Laser Blast ended at a million also. It changed to exclamation points if I remember right.
I think you are thinking of Fathom by Imagic. You are a bird above the water and then turn into a dolphin when you go underwater.
blwink! blwink! blwink! blwink! blwink! blwink! blwink!
I got here late and was hoping someone posted this!
Still play mine to this day, and I'm 43 now. Matter of fact, I finally got the initials on Raiders of the Lost Ark, I was so damn happy just like I was 10 again.
Yeah, I was expecting it to reference the book or be some sort of tie-in.
I remember in the manual it talks about how they have two choices, to turn back or try and go through the wall. I got really mad as a kid because I wanted to turn back in the game and that was not an option.
The next time you have a party, break out the Atari 2600 and play four player Warlords. Instant memories for everyone involved.
Another cool thing is to make the force field, game code was dumped onto the screen for the force field effect. Sometimes you can see letters in that mess.
Even as a kid that Codebreaker art kind of spooked me out. It made it seem like a difficult game. Years later I finally played the game and realized there wasn't much to be concerned about.
I can't find it online at the moment, but I think on game 9 if you moved the left tank to the top of the closest bunker, then tapped the joystick up twice and to the right twice, then fired..the ball would bounce and hit the other tank. The other tank would wrap over to the left side of the tank and they would scroll…
I do get really annoyed by the "It's not as funny as it used to be…back when _____ was on it was awesome!" People naturally only remember the good things, every season had forgettable unfunny sketches. When all the now-classic Phil Harman bits, Wayne's World, etc where on when I was in high school, my teachers…
I have mentioned this before, but one time my ex girlfriend and I were talking with a couple friends. Someone brought up The Outsiders. My exgf said, "My Dad was in that….well, not the movie, but he went to
high school with the woman who wrote the book. She based it on the group of people he ran around with back then…"
Well, "Stranglehold" does have a pretty catchy riff and sounds great loud.
Heh. Oddly enough I've never met her either! We still talk though.
