This movie and Almost Famous are two movies I watch every year.

During my 2013 Pacific Crest Trail hike, one of the towns I resupplied in was Big Bear Lake, California. This town happened to be where they filmed the scene of David getting arrested at the 7-11 by the Feds. I thought about getting a big gulp as per the movie, but opted for a coffee since it was a little cold out..

"Noah Webster, big inspiration of mine. I'm friends, good friends, of his descendants. He was a man of words. I am a man of my word."

Yeah, both my wife and I think he was modeled after the nuke the bastards guy.

Or…Portland, Oregon since 2003.

I wondered that too. "Trailer" was actually released though as the B-Side to "Don't Come Around Here No More". I had the 45 for a long time and was glad to finally get it on CD when Playback came out.

I missed the memorial by a day since I couldn't get out of work. Flew down to SF on that Monday and basically looked at an empty polo field and some Jerry related taggings on the walls.

The 1991 Deadicated tribute album has all you need: Los Lobos covering "Bertha", Midnight Oil doing "Wharf Rat", and the final (?) recording of Jane's Addiction in their original lineup doing "Ripple".

My wife and I have really good seats too. We had a fire lookout reserved for three nights in Southeast Oregon, but it conflicted so we cancelled it . (which was hard..because reserving a fire lookout is just as hard as getting high-demand concert tickets).

Gonna see him on the 29th!

I'm sad to say…although I would sing along to the Clash's "Clampdown", I never really paid any attention to the lyrics until I heard the Indigo Girl's version. I have never really listened to the Indigo Girl's version since…but at least it got me to stop and appreciate the lyrics.

This is funny, just last week I fired up the Atari 2600 and decided I needed to actually finish these games. Played Earthworld as a kid when it came out but the only way I could ever get that final sword was to jiggle the power switch on and off a bunch of times.

Andrew Loomis from Dead Moon passed away this afternoon too.

Well, and if you open up the gatefold of Hotel California, there is that face on the 2nd floor on the left looking down at everyone.

I remember reading an interview with a Portland promoter and he was saying how rock shows geared towards the 50+ age group are really hard to plan for. You make it a seated show…everyone is pissed that there are chairs in the way and they can't dance. You make it standing room, everyone is pissed there is no place

He's playing the Capitol Theater in Yakima, wow. Saw a Screaming Trees show there in 1993. All the kids kept going up onto the stage despite requests to stay off of it. Eventually the band left the stage after a few songs, curtains opened again and the band was there again, but an entire wall of cops behind them.

Good to hear!

In the friends can always surprise you dept:

Built to Spill does a nice version of Orion, hopefully they will play it when they come to your town.
