I've seen this blog before and it is frankly, childish, ignorant, and a little disturbing with its obsession. I've never read Wild and only have ever seen the movie, which I was laughing about the parts that were a bit away from the PCT. (eg Smith Rock in Oregon).
Speaking of The Blow and The Halo Benders. First listen to Hey Boy by The Blow:

When I was in the fifth grade, a friend of mine had a relative who had a friend that actually SAW them play in concert. It blew my rural eastern Washington mind that a band I liked could be seen in concert.
I remember seeing them debut this song on a Bob Hope birthday TV special.
Yes, especially in that Teddy Bear suit.
Despite working in a record store for a few years and having a large collection of music, I just now, finally, got around to listening to Pinkerton. I can't get past the first track though. It is awesome enough that I have to hear it again, and again, and again.
I could see in another 20-30 years Myspace being a big archive for outsider music of the 2000s. There is just, so much to go through!

Just now seeing this comment, but if you check out on youtube Amoeba Record's "What's In My Bag?" thing with Cheech Marin..there is a nice surprise in there.

That first RATM album is still awesome. There really wasn't much like it when it came out.
I somehow had never heard of the non comedian one, holy hell.
oh yeah, that. Despite being in tech I'm already using dated references as to what all the kids use now.
I've never understood why people choosing to not have kids is considered "selfish", but people who have 10+ kids is a "joy". Look at all the problems we are starting to have due to overpopulation, yet the couple who chooses to not impact the planet further are the ones who are "selfish".
