Rogue Nation as a whole is a much better movie than Ghost Protocol in that it actually has a story and villain. But Rogue Nation doesn't have any sequence as fun and tense as the Burj in IMAX.

I just watched MI:2 for the first time since I saw it on opening night (and hated it) and I found myself having a good time with it. When I first saw it the PG-13 edited Woo action pissed me off so much that I ignored all the rest of the melodramatic Woo stuff (slo-mo, dissolves, fucking glowing white dove) I also

Actually, I'm kind of jealous that you enjoyed the movie as much as you did. I love action, but most recent action stuff has really bored me. I feel like the part of me that gets off on (for lack of a better phrase) movie violence is broken somehow. I blame it on having children.

I thought the increased size of all the action actually made it feel less visceral and exciting. Everything was so big it just ended up boring spectacle. That's why I liked the final fight in the kitchen so much - we finally got a great, tight fight sequence. On top of the disappointing action, the plodding story

Here's my short list of every 2014 movie I've seen this year (mostly watched via VOD).

I was mostly disappointed/bored with The Raid 2. Every time a fight ended and the recycled undercover cop plot came back - I could not care less about anyone in the movie - it just ground to a halt. And the fights scenes - save for the final fight in the kitchen - all seemed to be the same 'keep throwing more bodies

I always liked "There's No Home For You Here" as a sequel to "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground" for The White Stripes.

There's a scene not too far off from that where McClane mocks his severely injured son by repeatedly asking him if he's going to cry.

I concur. Wholeheartedly. About A Good Day To Die Hard. I'm still not sold on Live Free or Die Hard.

Agreed. But no ones hoping for greatness here. Just some fun action with a character we love. The sequels should be held to the same standards of the Bond series - nothing can ever hope to equate to the first Die Hard.

I avoided Live Free or Die Hard in the theatres (couldn't stomach the PG-13 rating and idea of Len Wiseman directing a Die Hard) even though it really pained me at the time (huge Die Hard 1 & 3 fan, enjoy the badness of 2). But after seeing it on DVD, I knew I made the correct decision.

There's no way this deserves anything close to a C-. I'd give it an F, but I don't think it qualifies for an A.V. Club F because there is nothing interesting or in the least bit entertaining (even in a bad way) about the badness of A Good Day To Die Hard. Just terrible direction, the most incomprehensible editing I've

I think they might have Pam and Jim separate, not divorce, in the second-to last episode. That way they can have them get back together at the very end of the last episode, much like how Tim finally gets Dawn right at the end of the British series. I could even see them jumping forward 6 months or a year for the last

I tend to only listen to those five tracks, imagining that Collapse Into Now is an EP. Kinda bookending their library with Chronic Town.

I'm with you on the first M:I - it's great. The second is bad at best. And the third is entertaining, but mostly forgettable thanks to its complete lack of style. Ghost Protocol is very fun, definitely an improvement on the third, but still peters out after Dubai with an underwhelming final action sequence. Did it
