I think it depends on the news available. You can tell they are phoning it in when the stories are softballs like the Pope stuff, but when there's real political news to be mined they sink their teeth into it.

I've been watching P&R in real time every week since the Season 2 premiere (I then went back and watched Season 1 during Season 2), and I just do not see the decline that so many claim to see.
