I suppose I should say that Mike D'Angelo's coverage is great. I think his reviews are well expressed and reasoned. He openly admits not everyone is going to agree with him and invites discussion. So good work.

Grades
While I agree that complaining about grades is stupid, saying they don't mean anything (or aren't very important) when you are using them is a bit off.

Well I believe in God, and the only thing that scares me is Rowan Kaiser.

Squeeze is damn fine television and a fine place to start, though not the one I usually go to when introducing someone to the show. I go with Ice. It's intense and claustrophobic but also not going to set the viewer up for a letdown later on because it's not quite as iconic as Squeeze.

And Vicky Cristina Barcelona was pretty rad.

The first one surprised me big time. It was one of those movies I never got around to seeing until last year and I was impressed by the atmosphere. It's so damned bleak and the gore doesn't feel tacked on.

And he wasn't bad as Bukowski in the otherwise mediocre Factotum.

"I'm 40 % potato but close enough!"
