Berserker
Man, Kevin Smith is frustrating. Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy got me right where I lived, and then everything else he's done has been mildly amusing at best (Zach and Miri) and unwatchable at worst (Jay and Silent Bob, Clerks 2).
Remember when he was the poster child for Indie Film? It's embarrassing

@ Zackie Jab: Newsarama, or one of its offshoots?

Sabrina, definitely. That's the TGIF show I watched while waiting for it to be late enough to go out and get drunk.
Sabrina —> Boy Meets World —-> shitfaced Aqualad

That's a really good point. I bought the soundtrack today- I haven't bought a movie soundtrack since…Singles? Reality Bites?
(Well, OK, O Brother Where Art Thou, but that doesn't count.)

Urge reminds me of all those garage bands with a gimmick, who dress like cavemen or wear wrestling masks or are siblings or whatever. So they had a lounge act gimmick, big fucking deal.

I feel cool for getting your Rt 46 reference.

The Violent Femmes should have been huge, but for some reason nobody wants to explore past the first (classic) album. I saw them in like 1995 and they were great and had a ton of great songs.

I listened to Saturation recently and it's pretty solid. Heaven 90210, Bottle of Fur, Sister Havana, Positive Bleeding are all Cheap Trick- level catchy.

I liked the song a lot more when I thought it was Hilary Duff singing.

Mmm, good points, Shit.

I saw Kick-Ass for the first time this weekend. I liked both movies, but Kick-Ass is going to stay with me much longer than Scott Pilgrim. And I liked the Pilgrim comics way more than Kick-Ass.

But damn, that Ramona Flowers is hot.

Tobias is right on.
I liked, not loved, the comics, but I know kids who absolutely worship the series. The movie was pretty much just like the books, in that I appreciated what they were going for and admired the technique, but didn't really connect emotionally.
If I had seen this as a teenager it would have changed

Read some silver age DC and you'll start to appreciate the Stan-isms, corny as they are.

That was Dark as hell, when Willow nudged Dawn towards the resurrection spell.

I still think Claremont/ Byrne is about as good as superhero comics get.

Harmony
I love how they gradually turned Harmony from a useless bit-part into a great recurring character.

If I was on the fence about the character before, this episode definitely would have pushed me over to Team Lindsey. That Evil Hand bit was just hilarious.

This year they did a Free Comic Book Day one-shot with Solar and Magnus. The Magnus half was definitely stronger than the Solar. C/C+ seems about right to me, but I will definitely pick up the Magnus book just for the reprint. How do you not love a guy in a skirt who punches robots?

Apparently the kids at the school where I work are all big-time Christians, because I see every one of those bands on "spooky" t-shirts every day.
