I collect Superman, but not because the comics are any good. There are a million Superman Family books that have amazing jaw-dropping Neal Adams covers that have jack shit to do with the bland contents inside. Superman books are always like that- covers that make you say "Holy Shit, I must read this comic!" and

True. We saw Homer learning things and then applying them (from a book even!) for the first time in years.

Anthony did all the backing vocals! It doesn't even sound like Van Halen without him!

And while we're on the subject, where were all the white people on Family Matters? HMMMMM????

That's a good point- the essays I've read by him were more memorable and interesting than his fiction.

The scene that kills me is when Bill is having a bad day, and he comes home, has a snack, and laughs like a lunatic at Gary Shandling on TV.

Undeclared didn't try to do the "drama-dy" thing like Freaks, it was a straight-up sitcom. In that respect it works pretty well. Seth Rogen has never been funnier or more likable than he was on Undeclared, IMO.

He's OK. Not as good as he would have you believe, but far from the worst sf/fantasy writer of the time.

Get a blog.

That song is awesome.

Your Arsenal
Your Arsenal will always be my favorite Morrissey album- it's the closest thing to a hard rock record he'd done since leaving the Smiths. That rockabilly band just kills.

I'll second Umbrella Academy, Invincible, and Buffy as fun superhero books from outside the "big two."

LOOK AT US

Kyle Rayner is a much better character than Hal Jordan, IMO. I feel the same way about Wally West.

Those rogues are all awesome, especially Jerk With A Half-Assed Gimmick.

If you watched the show you would probably have an emotional connection to the characters.

Parallel earths and mirror universes can be a lot of fun. The problem is when editors and writers start acting like that shit is important instead of a goofy old sci-fi trope.

Morrison's Batman made 70 years of long-term continuity a strength. Most comics can't pull that off.

I'll start:
Amazing Spider-Man has been a lot of fun lately, and it's not too tied in with the main Marvel Universe (if you can get past all the whining about MJ and mindwipes that is)

Good comics?
So what are some books that people are reading that buck these trends?
