All Freddy and Jason ever did was kill teenagers in cheap movies that did decent box office. The only reason they had "buildup" to their "iconography" was because dumb kids paid their allowance money to see tits and blood.
Let's not let nostalgia fool us into thinking those 80's slasher movies were any good.
