You can't randomly make a minor character practically as powerful as the Avatar. Not only does it not make sense, but it waters down what being the Avatar is supposed to mean.

I like how much the writers on The Dissolve participate in the comments. It's smart, but probably also easier on the articles with lower comment counts.

I like that idea but the results would've been biased in favor of regular users. They have to also appeal to casual users' needs, which are different, in order to stay in business. That being said, boo casual users. What is wrong with those people?
