Speaking of white hats, all of the moral gray area flying around reminded me of Scandal. TGW is much slower and methodical about its plotting while Scandal seemingly has a gamechanger every week, but I think the latter is capable of something this good if they put their minds to it.

I wonder if some viewers will be turned off enough that they will stop watching. If so, I hope there's enough buzz to make up for them. These kinds of status quo-destroying creative decisions are very interesting.

I'm pretty sure her mom's her manager so there's that. And from what I've read, people haven't been wanting to work with either of them so someone hasn't been doing their job, and it may not just be her PR person, if she even has one.

It's annoying, repetitive, and juvenile. People can do it all they want, but I can also express how I feel about it. Those comments often make lesbians uncomfortable and they make me uncomfortable too.

Like I said above, Bareilles' singles aren't representative of her work. Except for the fact that her first one, "Love Song," is about how she's going to write what she wants instead of love songs that the industry wants her to write, which is admirable.

I watched a lot of interviews and she's definitely trying to do more than be the next generic pop star. I've seen a lot of ambivalence towards her, probably because of how quickly she came on the scene and how young she is, but she's the real deal. I just hope she has some longevity quality-wise.

She's probably not everyone's cup of tea, you have to be into pop singer/songwriters, but her first album, Little Voice, is one of my favorites. "Between the Lines," "City," and "Gravity" are some of the best from that album but I don't really consider there to be any filler.

I'm obsessed with that album. It's a bit inconsistent but the tone or feel of it is so great. It's almost like pop music can be good when people actually make an effort to do something other than just get singles on the radio.

I would argue that Bareilles is a really good lyricist (she actually writes her songs) and singer, though her singles don't always reflect the scope of her talents. Have you even listened to her albums? She is way out of Katy Perry's league. And…congrats?

Inspirational songs and marketing aren't necessarily super deep but they feign more depth than the average pop album.

The only thing worse than Katy Perry is online comments about Katy Perry.

Although Bareilles' songs are typically much better written, I'd say "Stronger" is my favorite of those 3. It's more upbeat and fun than "Brave" with some actual propulsion, which makes it come across as less treacly. I also adore Clarkson's voice, which makes "Roar" look even worse in comparison.

It doesn't help that the live performances have been incredibly irritating. We're so desperate to sell this single we'll parade it around with a bunch of jungle AND boxing bullshit to distract from what a shitty song it is! The music video cost me some IQ points for sure, if I had any left to spare.

Sign me up.

I agree, she's not a great singer though sadly better than many pop artists, but I'd hate that song no matter who sang it. I've liked a couple of her singles but Perry's attempts at inspirational music fall flat when so much of her career revolves around artificiality. "Teenage Dream" and "Vegas," which I enjoy, are

I don't like either, which pains me to say because I love Bareilles. She means well and sincerely wants to inspire from what I've seen but man, that's a generic track that is so mediocre for her. I hate how calculated it comes across.

Which is why I no longer watch that show, personally.

I bet they gave them a discount because of all of the free advertising they'd get once the couple tackily Instagrammed every detail of this super intimate moment in their lives.

I laughed out loud reading this newswire when I saw that that was one of the songs chosen. I had to confirm it by consulting other sources because it seemed too good to be true. I actually really enjoy Lana Del Rey but when it comes to that detail, being that particular song in that particular instance, this is a case

Those A+'s weren't really supposed to happen. They're against AVC policy but not everyone was aware of that. The highest grade AVC gives is an A.
