That picture is like the Silence in Doctor Who. Every time I'm explicitly reminded of it or see it, it's horrifying beyond belief, and then I look away and forget it exists.

I always autocorrect his name in my head to "Palmer Lackey." I feel good about that.

It's insane to me that CBS wouldn't pony up to pay all the leads in this show the same amount, and that they would do it on such blithely racial lines. I mean, sure, negotiate hard, but talk about shooting yourself in the face.

I really want to attribute that to one of the non-Sean Newswire authors, but I think that'd be too mean even for us.

Always.

Look, on the one hand, someone who definitely did say and do offensive things might be identified by his real name

Silly Dik. When a rich person commits a crime to become richer, it's just called investing.

You sure would think that they'd be extra sure with this one before it goes out the door? Nope.

No, I understand. My point is that if Rey is still that much of a blank at the end of TLJ, it will be a problem, because she felt very much a blank slate throughout all of TFA, not that she's an irredeemable disaster of a character.

I don't mean in the sort of "Rey learned the Force too fast how is she so powerful? MARY SUE!" things that got a lot of action after it came out.

That's why I'm hesitant to be too declarative about the comparison. It's really hard to remember what the experience of watching ANH the very first time was like.

Enough people have asked me this question that I'm really starting to worry that it's true.

This sure sounds like a hot take, but definitely isn't intended to be: I really hope they figure out how to do something more with Rey in TLJ, because I found her to be painfully uninteresting in TFA. Maybe she's not any worse than Luke in ANH? It's oddly hard for me to compare those two movies objectively. But, yeah.

Yeah, I somehow feel good about not being included and also really bad.

I mean, other than having a dreadful name and not being a stunning cinematic presence, why do normal people hate him? Did he do something specifically hateful?

I will never understand why the pineapple on pizza thing causes such acrimony. Of all of the potentially controversial pizza toppings, why did that one get singled out as such an alleged abomination? Totally weird.

I remember when assigned seating first started showing up at a theater near my college and I recoiled at it, but now I wouldn't trade it for the world.

It's an executive law enforcement agency. Why would the president not have broad authority to direct their activities?

Zero. Zero energy was spent on it.

As someone who exclusively (or almost exclusively) patronizes AMC theaters, I feel like she and I are old friends and I should send her a card or something.
