I agree that the fish-out-of-water stuff is better than the palace intrigue stuff, by and large, but I think that "Thor doesn't get earth" does not also need "Thor falls in love with literally the first earth female he meets, despite her being also the most boring person on the planet."

That's really only a testament to what a stunningly awesome design Tyrael is, that even when distorted into the horrifying proportions of a Funko Pop he still looks great.

Fair. In general, no. I think Portman has shown herself to be a far more capable performer when she wants to be, but Portman had shown in the first Thor just how little she gave a shit about being in the Marvel movies, which is to say, not at all. (If anyone can come up with a worse line reading from a major character

Note the word "effective." Jane/Thor is (as I said somewhere else in these comments) the nadir of romantic relationships in a shared universe full of bad/nonexistent ones.

I'm definitely going to have to try this, because the Nobu black miso cod is one of the top ten most delicious things I've ever put in my mouth.

Wonder Woman and First Avenger are almost hilariously similar in so many ways, but I really don't hold that against Wonder Woman at all and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I would honestly be fascinated to hear the BTS story of Portman's involvement. Paltrow seems like she would be impossible to get to drop the pretense and buy into the nonsense of the MCU, and she was ride or die from the get go. How did Portman show up four movies in and give such a totally flat performance? And how

More specifically it was a poorly-executed bone tossed to the comics, in which Sharon and Steve have a long relationship history.

With a tiny bit of filling in the blanks, I think Jamie Alexander had a scheduling conflict because she basically asked if Sif's role was going to be increased/improved and they were like, nah, we got this Jane girl that we think is just swell.

By Peter I meant Quill. MCU Peter Parker seems to lean far more towards earnest nerd cracking jokes than he does cynical snark machine, but I guess we'll see in two weeks.

In all of Marvel's many (many (many)) incredible casting coups, Natalie Portman was a fucking disaster, and Feige's mandate for Thor 2 to double down on the Jane/Thor relationship guaranteed that movie was in the bottom tier of the bunch.

Describing everyone in the MCU as a smartass is equally lazy and tired.

I really wonder, after this, if they have her and Whedon sit down together to make a sweet, creative, feminist baby right the DCEU ship and steer it towards Valhalla.

Effective MCU romantic subplots:
- Steve and Peggy
- 404 File Not Found

I'm a more enthusiastic supporter of Man of Steel than most, but I can't really overstate how excited I would be about that for a potential sequel. Someone pitch that and make that as soon as they're done with Justice League.

Man that bath scene in BvS seems like it's from a completely different movie. It's so jarringly out of step with everything else. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love it, but I also have no clue how it happened.

The profile has 6000 comments. If that comment is of representative length, I'm terrified and impressed and confused.

No Alice, no deal.

No, I certainly don't mean to suggest in any way it's not a huge success, it's just frustrating to see the movie itself trailing clearly inferior, but related, outings.

The first, say, 10 episodes were kind of a chore, but we're getting into the groove of season 2 now, and it's picked up quite a bit. Just finished the performance review episode.
