I see your point: there are definitely nuances there.
It's just that I'd personally prefer to err on the side of sensitivity when it comes to issues like these.

Is "plus-sized" really a pejorative, though?
I guess it depends on who's saying it and in what context and tone.

As to your first question, I've definitely pondered that myself.
I suppose I would consider myself to be fairly intelligent (or at least educated) and I actually subscribed the Dutch version of Glamour for years.
I think it's because I really like clothes and fashion and reading about other women's lives as well as

Not sure if that's true.
Terms like "Big dude"/"big guy"/"dad bod" or even "chunky" seem similarly euphemistic in nature.

I don't know. I'm thin as hell and I don't think that earns me any special rights compared to anybody else.

Thanks for responding. I didn't feel called out so much as I felt like I needed to clarify.
I agree that Glamour didn't disrespect Amy! I don't personally enjoy her style of comedy but you can't deny her success in a male-dominated industry, so I applaud her nonetheless.

I would also like to add that you never know why someone is a certain size.
Everything from dietary issues, to digestive problems, to hormonal disturbances to mental health issues and a number of other things could be the cause.
Just last week, Wentworth Miller hit back at fat shamers by sharing his story of depression.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to condescend or pretend to be a medical expert of any kind, because I'm not.
Maybe she is healthy.
My larger point is that it shouldn't matter. She is human regardless of size, health or weight and deserves to be treated as such. As do you, as does any human being.

I see your point. I've seen people in comment sections elsewhere (Jezebel, xoJane) bend over backwards in attempts to argue that Tess Holliday (google her, she's supposedly the heaviest model ever) is somehow healthy, even though she literally has problems walking and standing up from a squatting position without

My friend and I have seen both of these movies in the theatre together.
It's weird: we both half-genuinely, half-ironically enjoy them.
With the second one, neither of us remember much of what had happened in the first, even though it had come out less than a year earlier. We were going "Who is he again?", "Wait, where

Same thing with the photo. Made me cry.
I really am hoping for justice for her.

Would she be worthy our time and energy if she were poor and a person of color?
Or perhaps poor, a person of color and physically disabled?

That seems more than a tad far-fetched to me.
Like, am I going to see that stat pop up one too many times and then it'll give me ideas?

Yeah, I know. It's insane and incredibly sad.

Good grief this is awful.
I can't believe that there are people out there that are saying that she's falsely accusing him in order to get out of her contract.
Yeah, she just woke up one day thinking: "let me fabricate rape accusations, open up my private life to extremely harsh criticism from the entire world, have

Sorry!

That's interesting, I wasn't aware of that happening in J-pop.
I guess that if the people being written about are cool with it/encouraging it, it's another story.
However, there are probably still lines that can be crossen with regards to what's acceptable.

I agree: the consent factor is very important. Paparazzi pics of celebrities with kids are kind of gross.

I do really like Peeta and Katniss together.
I never really bought into the Gale hype.
