To be blunt, cynical, and ignorant about it, it sounds to me like people want their uncontrolled sluttiness to be validated. Not that uncontrolled sluttiness is a bad thing, but to call it an orientation like homosexuality undermines the effort for legitimacy that so many are working for now.
