Well, it would be grown up prison so it could be very bad, but the judge still has leeway in sentencing. The extenuating circumstances could put him in a psychiatric hospital instead.

She could be in that period when your bank account has just gone negative so your autopays wouldn't work but the credit card people don't bug you until you miss a second payment, so you aren't really aware of the the situation yet.
