I agree 100% with your point about alternate universe Nirvana, but I would argue that Cobain owes more to Mark Arm than anyone, even Frank Black. It always seemed like Cobain was gunning for Arm's approval or something.

I think you are correct regarding the etymology of "glam" Daffle, but I think at one point the definition stretched to lousy 80's hair metal as well. At least that's what we called it when we were kids, dag nabbit.

I always hated Nirvana for their overdone "life sucks" shtick. But I have recently come to appreciate at least the music since I love other stuff from the era that inspired them like the Melvins and early Mudhoney. Grunge was certainly a marketing tool used to put the glam nonsense to bed, but I hardly think it should
