I liked the Japan segment, but it had so much WASTED potential. I've seen a hundred better anime parodies.

Interesting episode. It was hard to say which was the B-plot, because both plots intermingled properly (as they usually should, but seldom do!). I loved Gene as Bob. Their voices actually are quite similar. I wasn't a huge fan of the scatological humor, but it was done in a goofy enough way (without anybody having to

I'm pretty sure the promos had scenes that weren't in the episode?! One of them showed the car careening off a cliff. I am 99% sure that didn't actually happen.

"Bart’s study session includes drawing on the pictures his history
textbook, so that Abraham Lincoln says, “Nice wig, Grandma,” and George
Washington replies, “At least I can take a bullet.” Pleased with his
work, Bart says, “Thanks for the freedom of speech, DORKS!”"

Geez, that outdoor set was just terrible. BBT has sometimes used actual outside locations for filming, but they obviously didn't here. Totally ruined the scene - it literally looked like they were casting shadows on the backdrop in one shot! If it was supposed to be a meta reference to TNG, etc using sets and matte

Geez, that first act was just TERRIBLE. When it went to commercial I just sat there, wondering how on earth they were going to make a story out of whatever it was that just barely sort of happened. After commercial, it seemed such a stretch for Homer to be so panicked and consider them savage monkeys, like it came out

Geez. I can barely explain how good it feels to have a quality animated show to look forward to every Sunday evening. It's hard to put a finger on exactly what makes the show work so well… frankly, it's almost everything! And even when the show is crude, it's not nearly as crude for crude's sake as Family Guy. *happy

"RUF!"

Terrible episode - it's as though Family Guy is TRYING to hit new lows. I did like the bit with Peter in space looking for a second and then switching to his smartphone, though. But I think that was it.

I was SURE I heard the Willhelm Scream in the goblin caves when one of the goblins was knocked off a platform. Please, AV Club, confirm that I am not certifiably insane.

This was a great episode.

This was a great episode.

I was totally expecting one too, but I suppose this was not the season finale, even though it really, really felt like one.

I like how the folks at DreamWorks were like "CRAP! 'How To Train A Dragon: Gift Of the Night Fury' is way too long! Let's just shorten the first part to Dragons, because THAT'S original!"

Best part was definitely Bob and Linda arguing and yelling at the kids to simultaneously leave and stay. I think the part of the show I consistently appreciate the most is the relationship of the parents and the kids, because it feels like a real family. Y'know, a cooky, crazy off-kilter real family. But one

Gotye is GREAT! Making Mirrors is a fantastic album, that like Gotye covers so many different emotions: regret, happiness, anger/foreboding, heartbreak. And such variety in genres, too. I'm surprised the guy doesn't get a bit more AVClub coverage for his stuff that isn't "Somebody", 'cuz it's top-notch.
