My deepest condolences to Opera Punk and all others this terrible news
affects. As others have noted, E. Buzz was practically emblematic of the
old guard of the AV Club community; but more than that, in my limited
experiences and interactions with him, his comments represented an
incredibly unique mix of intelligence

I haven't been in 5 or 6 years, but I don't recall any boos or vocal interjections during any screenings I attended back in the day. I wonder if it's become more frequent in recent years as jeers get more widely reported and audiences start to feel like it's practically expected.

It's an album that seems to inspire mythic, effusive adulation among those typically not prone to such platitudes, and I'm no exception. As much as I love music, there are precious few albums that, besides being musically incredible, feel as though they're tapping into something otherworldly at points. It's a piece of

The A.V. Club:

It really is a wonderfully witty script. Dixon's profession as a wordsmith gives the screenwriters permission to place some sparklingly dry quips in his mouth, and Bogart of course delivers them perfectly. The initial levity also helps sugarcoat the pill of some of the grim proceedings and makes the disturbing threat

Look, at the very minimum they're making too much of the fact that Launchpad McQuack was the personal pilot of the uber-wealthy Scrooge McDuck. To begin with, Scrooge is a known tightwad - so just because the position would SEEM to be one of prestige, power and abundance, doesn't mean that the pay-scale would

This gets an automatic pass because Rob Riggle is a Kansas City sports fan.

No apology necessary - lack of snark appreciated!

I'm glad we got rid of video stores. I sure do enjoy paying for a dozen different streaming services rather than popping down $5 to rent the one film I'm interested in tonight.

The jewel thief movie?

BREAKING NEWS: Ben Carson rescued, alive, well, and of normal size, some eight thousand miles away in a lifeboat, with no memory of where he has been. There was no giant, no monster, no thing called "Carson" to be followed.

Let's face it, anybody who's commenting on the AV Club had at least a dozen arguments about the benefits of letterbox format with various idiots during the mid-90s.

I worked with him on a film quite a few years ago, and in my experience he was one of the nicest person I've met not just compared to other actors I worked with, but compared to most people in general.

So this is an unlikely piece of speculation, but amidst threads of people speculating about the circumstances of how/why Jimmy and Kim eventually part ways, another possibility - something far more painful - struck me during when re-watching ‘Cobbler’ from earlier this season.

I was one of the producers on Paris je t'aime (though not any of the subsequent entries in the series); on Paris, each of the filmmakers were only instructed that their segment should somehow involve love (in any sense that they would like), and that it should be set in the particular arrondissement they were

I think we're meant to think of Gary's fate in World's End as a kind of character growth, though by no means totally pure. On the one hand, he is still running with Blanks who are essentially young versions of his friends, so it is a bit more of him attempting to recapture his glory days; on the other, he rejected the

When I saw Spotlight that actually made me think of the scene in Wayne's World where Wayne begins sobbing and overacting while "Oscar Clip" flashes at the bottom of the screen. It's literally that out of tone with the rest of the very subtle film.

I don't think we have quite enough to pull off the upset against the Patriots this weekend, but I'm bookmarking this thread just in case, so I remember to come back and gloat - hashtags will be involved.

I love that it really hits home how incredibly punch-drunk and giddy Scott and Paul are when they phone Jason. Jason seems by comparison to be so restrained and 'normal,' and it takes that contrast to highlight how Paul and Scott have reached that exhausted-yet-bouncing-off-the-walls state after so many hours
