I'm in Santa Monica. I'd probably be down for something but, like most westsiders, certainly not if I have to *shudder* go east of the 405.

Croatia is incredible. I've been lucky enough to travel relatively extensively, but I always feel like Dubrovnik is the most beautiful place I've ever visited.

I'm a film producer, but I haven't done any purely creative writing since film school. A few months back, I started a screenplay just to keep that part of my brain active, and as of this morning I am finally finished (well, with the first draft at least)!

I always say Notes from Underground or Ghost World, but those are really things that define twenty-year-old me. I still enjoy both, but I don't know how well they still apply to me at 31 (thankfully).

Indeed, it was some time ago that they went through Backstreet Puberty.

I can't let Herbie: Portrait of a Serial Killer go unmentioned.

Thank God the French, and the elderly, exist.

What that sick freak Mayer did to Paul Giamatti. . .

What other genuinely hilarious comedy could there ever be where the main character attempts (and succeeds!) to kill himself dozens of times?

Even if he left the town and bought himself maybe a couple hours in Pittsburgh, he'd still wake up back in Punxutawnee in the morning.

Sudekis has enough Lawrence in his blood to wear a Liberty Hall shirt on SNL, which is supercool.

You want a prediction about the weather, you're asking the wrong Phil. I'll give you a winter prediction: it's gonna be cold, it's gonna be grey, and it's gonna last you the rest of your life.

There aren't enough hoppy sours out there. The few that I've had I've really enjoyed: New Belgium Lips of Faith La Terroir (dry hopped with Amarillo) and Anchorage Bitter Monk (IIPA aged in French oak barrels with Brett) are both incredible.

Of their sours, website currently shows the Apricot, Blueberry, Strawberry, Vlad the Imp Aler, Kriek, Figaro and The Vine available.

I loved Upright. I came in not a huge fan of their beers (I appreciate saisons, but having all their widely distributed offerings be saison variations was not especially exciting to me), but I loved the atmosphere of the place and all the great one-offs on tap. Grabbed a bottle of Sole Composition, a barleywine aged

@avclub-9ff7c9eb9d37f434db778f59178012da:disqus I think it was you(?) a few reviews back who compared the folly of grading this season episode by episode to appraising a novel by ranking it chapter by chapter, and that's the most accurate way of stating it I've heard. And not just structurally either - this season

Shariff Granville. Sounds like a Pakistani realtor.

Liberty Station was pretty great, but I sort of still prefer the Escondido spot. Maybe it's just that I prefer those vast beer gardens at Escondido; most of the time at Stone I just grab a beer and wander, and the gardens are great for strolling and relaxing.

Beer Thread!:

The structure of this season grew on me more and more as episodes went by. By the end, I really appreciated what Hurwitz did not just on a conceptual level, in terms of making the most of a new format rather than structuring it like a weekly sitcom, but on a thematic level as well.
