I think if the morality of the Rita as MRF subplot bothers you, you're probably watching the wrong show. Arrested Development has done uncomfortable, borderline offensive comedy (and done it particularly well) since the very beginning.

Right, obviously Benjamin voices both characters but I find that he has more range than he's often given credit for. His voices aren't immediate transformations the way, say, Hank Azaria's are and you always recognize a Jon Benjamin voiced character, but I find the little nuances and inflections of Ben Katz entirely…

Well, Keith Phipps and Tasha Robinson both had it on their Best of the Year list, for whatever that's worth to you. . .

I think I'm Not There is a fantastic movie, and a worthy, creative take on the inherent problems of a biopic. I enjoy it because it acknowledges and tackles head on the impossibility of producing a neat, straightforward narrative for a cultural icon: rather than reductively boil down the contradictory, messy…

Good call. Tonally, and without something so obvious as a direct depiction, it comes as close as I've ever seen to capturing the spiritual and almost mystical component to artistic creation, underscoring how difficult not just that aspect but conjuring inspiration in the first place can be. Most straightforward…

I can certainly see why they'd pass on us. It's not as though LA has ever shown the kind of proclivity towards film that say, Arlington and Minneapolis have.

I enjoy how much Bob's 'angry voice' resembles Jason from Home Movie's (especially in the grips of a candy addiction flare-up). He doesn't become rageful so much as childlike.

Yeah, I'm an atheist in the same way that I'm a vegetarian: it's how I live my life, but the last thing I want to do is get into some pointless argument about it.

That is a great opening sequence, and an apt pick for this list, as the rest of the movie is absolutely execrable.

I made it out to see Holy Motors yesterday, which was invigoratingly insane. Just the kind of weird-ass, arresting whatsit I was hoping for. What it all means I'm still not entirely sure, but just about every moment was memorable (and crazy) as fuck.
