I'm hoping to see Schizopolis somewhere near the top of this list.

Worth catching on video or a matinee screening.  There are endearingly oddball, over-the-top performances by Walken and Rockwell, and a few smart twists along the way.

Not anywhere near as good as Adaptation IMO, but Adaptation is one of my favorite movies so it would have to be pretty amazing for me to say it was better.  You could say it's the same strain of meta, but without Charlie Kaufman's writing, the self-referentiality feels more perfunctory and lazy.  It's much more

The important thing is, Homer should always be significantly older than me.

I just finished Etgar Keret's collection of short stories, Suddenly A Knock at the Door, which was fantastic.  The pieces are all extremely brief sketches, so it's a very quick, breezy read, but they all have a wonderfully surreal flavor, and he paints tragedy and black humor with such effortless strokes.

Saw a preview screening of Seven Psychopaths and wasn't particularly impressed.  It's good, but rarely quite as funny, strange or intriguing as I had hoped for, and never as clever as it wants to be.  Made me oddly nostalgic for the mid-90s when studios were releasing bland Tarantino knock-offs every other week.

The babysitting/drug scoring scene from Permanent Midnight is fucking harrowing.
