"HS: Well, I’ll tell you something: I don’t even know if I’ll see it. That depends totally on the Coen brothers. I don’t go to movies with violence in them, and most of their movies, I hear, have a lot of violent scenes, so I stay away."

Yeah, me too.  I remember reading a lot more novels by Hinton, even though I didn't like any of them quite as much as Outsiders, in large part to scour for in-universe character connections.  Even though Ponyboy kind of comes across as a jerk in That Was Then, This is Now.

There is something to the old truism that the reason great NY pizza is not easily replicable is due to the water, IMO - it's the same reason you can't get a real bagel many places outside of NY.  One of the primary ingredient in bagels and pizza dough is water, after all.

How is the KC Alamo Drafthouse?  They had announced it was coming soon the last time I was in town visiting family & friends, but it hadn't opened yet.  I was excited to hear KC would be getting a Drafthouse, although I would have preferred it to be located. . . pretty much anywhere but the P & L District.

This guy sounds insufferable, and the whole "Southern secession" thing that comes up at times (or "Texas secession," occasionally) fails to acknowledge that our most extreme dichotomies politically and culturally are rarely Southern or regional divides but more accurately urban versus rural ones.
