I've watched the trailer a bunch of times, because I really love the song (which I thought was new to me), and only now that I read this story and see the title of the song that I realize I've known it all along via the Buckley version.

You're right, A.D. makes no sense plotwise, but is utterly redeemed by the leads. Mulder's reaction/look backs to Federman in that early scene in Skinner's office make me laugh every time.
