You're right, A.D. makes no sense plotwise, but is utterly redeemed by the leads. Mulder's reaction/look backs to Federman in that early scene in Skinner's office make me laugh every time.

This is one of the few episodes that I remembered vividly from back when I watched TNG on its initial run. I was young enough that I hadn't seen a million episodes with this type of "everything's been a lie!" premise. Good stuff, and good write-up, Zach.
