Just submitted this article to The Church of Scientology's legal department for that crack about cowboy thetans. Obviously since Tom Cruise is at an Operating Thetan level of 7 (OT VII), he has been cleansed of cowboy thetans and has moved on to Industrial Age Train Engineer thetans. To suggest otherwise is libel.

I mean come on, Sean O'Neal. Some of us have work in the morning, damn!

And I've been waiting around two years (three years?) for a new appearance by Paul Kinsey. Totally worth it.

Oh, I might have cried multiple times if I wasn't with other people. That scene between Sherlock and Molly was incredible. When she says, "I don't count," and he seems to finally "get" empathy…wow. Then Sherlock's suicide conversation to Watson, and then Watson's talk at the grave.

And to think that Jorah has been stuck in this zone even since season one! At this point I think his balls must be bluer than that sorcerer guy's lips…

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. If these two showrunners can keep up the level of quality and originality, but without all the drama, that would be amazing.

I wasn't really into the video game episode. It had a lot of unearned sentimentality for a totally new character. It also seemed to conform to the stereotype that this is "that show with the gimmick episodes" (which I don't believe in, but I know some people think that).

@avclub-0874d98b2ded08e831644f34ecf0f989:disqus Yes, I do like comic book movies. The best ones tap into a deep feeling of "mythic storytelling," the sense that the ancient Greeks probably got when they first heard the stories of Odysseus and the gang, or when the Mesopotamians heard about Gilgamesh, or when

Thank you for this. I didn't mean to be too loaded, but I was hoping to get more specific responses than the ones Toasterlad has given me (and I probably wouldn't have made my most recent reply to him if I had read this great response first).

Ah yes, millions of people consumed Avengers/Transformers/Two-and-a-Half Men/McDonald's hamburgers, therefor it is beyond reproach! Hopefully I don't have to go into why that line of reasoning is flawed. Calling the emotional themes "self-evident" is not really conducive to a discussion because obviously I didn't find

Okay, I'll bite, even though your reply is devoid of actual content (much like this movie, har har). What's the emotional resonance of the heroes getting in pointless wrestling matches to see who's strongest? What's the emotional resonance of characters punching cartoon aliens who have no backstory (and don't say

I don't know if I can get behind the premise of this article because I really didn't like the Avengers. What some might call "cool ensemble storytelling," I call a waste of time. What I mean is that for around half of its running time, The Avengers had no emotional stakes. Even for the second half, the villain was too

I'm not actually replying to your comment. I'm just riding this thread's coattails because it's the only way anyone will be able to read my comment once this thing blows up!

Running my hand through billowing fields of wheat during magic hour in anticipation!
