Lovecraft is right. We can be condescending dicks. In fact, I was, just a short few hours ago. But the AV Club connection is completely coincidental.

Sigh. You know what? Fuck that 'Lost sucks!' shit. That was a good final season and great series finale. Did it get spiritual? Yes but not religious. Was it schmaltzy? Yes but it triggered very few gag reflexes. But it wasn't shitty. A good 95% of the questions/mysteries were answered or were given enough…
First, "Guise Will Be Guise" is awesome and not boring. It may possibly be filler but it certainly wasn't boring. And I happen to enjoy "Untouched" and "Happy Anniversary". But you are right about "The Thin Dead Line" and "First Impressions".
Looks like The Vampire Diaries picked up a trick or twenty from this season.
I'm listening… With Beer.
Ending S2 with the Pylea arc was genius. 98% of the season dealt with Angel and his ongoing conflict with W&H and in a way that was terrifically compelling.
But by episode 19, I think a reprieve of that particular arc was
needed. Some time way, from LA and W&H. And what better way to end
the season than a parallel…
Oh, I never doubted you didn't feel anything for him. Maybe I wasn't clear. I just didn't agree that the motivation for his mistake made it harder to forgive him. I agree that it should be hard to forgive him, that he should atone and deal with the bed he made. But just like how Wes was allowed back in the group in S4…
Same here. It's what I call a mile marker episode: an hour of television that gives us a view/feeling/status update on the series' past, present, and future on every storytelling level. Very effective and haunting. And I think HipsterDBag's comment upthread on Wes' joke being melancholy can be said of the entire…
I don't have Twitter, and I don't want to, but can someone explain a little on his quasi-offensive twits, or twats or whatever? I had heard a similar comment on another forum earlier in the week and my interest is piqued.
I was quite shocked when, about 25 minutes in, I realized I was liking Conner. It was such a 180 from S4 to S5, he was nice, whine-less, dressed like a normal goddamn person, and to top it off funny. One big reason I craved for more Angel seasons was to see this new Connor on a multi-episode scale. We should've had…
What I love about that scene, is you can see David Boreanaz starting to lose it and cracking an amused smile, very Fallon-style.
The Illyira/Wes conversations are, perhaps, my favorite parts of Underneath. And Origin. And, well, every talk between them is interesting, on a character level as well as the thematic and philosophical. They mean something. You learn a lot about them and their views of the world around them.
For some reason, I heavily sympathize for Gunn in the last season, whereas before I barely took note of him. He was told that he would get the permanent mind upgrade if he would sign a form to get priceless artifacts or some such out of Customs, which we find out to be the sarcophagus. Now, priceless artifacts…
Yes, very freaky. One of the few moments in the series that gives off a true 'horror' feel, this and the first appearance of the Beast are top of the list.
Yeah, that necklace Lindsay was wearing not only signifies him as a prisoner and keeps him trapped, it seems as if he's under a spell to be happy as possible and not realize the horror of his present shituation. Which, as @avclub-84f9e7d729107289d35152b4262e2b53:disqus says, makes the suffering more powerful.
Good to great episode and finale. As someone who gets annoyed when the main characters push out the "normals", which is only Matt now, I've loved how they've used him the last third of the season, and especially tonight. I'm excited for the first time for new TVD and can't wait to see how Elenas' friends respond.
Pop Pop!?
