Agreed on both counts. I just assumed as the tide in the US turned toward "electronica" in the post-grunge era, it was a "We're gonna trend-hop on the so-called 'next big thing', motherfuckers! You're done with grunge? Then we're going TECHNO!" OH WAIT, no we're not — we're gonna do the same thing we've always

I agree on that pre-DSotM period. Closer to droney krautrock and repetitive space rock. Half of Saucerful Of Secrets is great; Atom Heart Mother isn't my thing, but sure; More and Obscured By Clouds are moody atmospherics, and Meddle has its moments (the first and last tracks, especially). Definitely worth digging

i remember Prindle. I miss Prindle. Used to check it almost daily for updates. I hope he's doing OK. The last run of that site was pretty grim with what was happening to his personal life.

Fantastic. I lived there at the same time. Everyone I knew had an "I met The Coug" story, and had an equally awful "Mellencamp was a douchebag to me" story. (His message may ring true with a lot of blue collar types, but he's widely disliked in his Indiana hometown). But the most perfect moment is that a few years

"Raw doggin' at the Jack White show" doesn't have the same greasy ring to it.

Long ago on a first date, I once made a girl laugh so hard she snorted soda out her nose with an impression of Leon "The Ladies' Man" Phelps. That girl is now my wife.

Internet high-fived for even the MENTION of "Rad". Down low, too, for good measure.
