So, I rented season 2 last night and I'm already 4 episodes deep.

I hope you're right, but I don't have high hopes. The fouls have killed 'em.

I predict that the Community panel will be actors only, and will focus on amusing behind-the-scenes anecdotes and incredibly vague hints of what is to come.

You know, in general I prefer the MOTW episodes, but early in the show's run, when there was still enough ambiguity involved, I really loved the government paranoia of the mythology episodes. Unfortunately, once the show got into alien bounty hunters, and warring alien factions and all that noise, it kept viewers too

Looking forward to it.  I'll have to get caught up on S2 via DVD's or (hopefully) Netflix, but I'm DVR'ing season 3 so I can begin watching as soon as I am caught up. Not sure why I didn't start watching season 1 until a few months ago.

So, since we're well beyond the point where being on/off topic matters, I thought I'd share some thoughts on the X-Files to help procrastinate from working on the writing project that I'm trying to avoid working on.

I love seeing this kind of work on a website like the AVclub (that's not intended nearly as derogatorily as it sounds. I really respect most of the writing here, but it's late and I'm too lazy right now to find a better way to say this). Anyway, it's important work.

I think this has all changed a great deal, though. I'd go so far as to suggest that if the Simpsons season 4 happened right now for the first time, after some other show paved the way for the normalization of animation, that it'd get some emmy nods.

I think you're on to something here, and I'm not sure I agree with @avclub-22eda830d1051274a2581d6466c06e6c:disqus that recent output has become less a collaboration—Embryonic seems more of a musician's album and less of a Coyne album. Man, I agree with your response to the Lips' shenanigans, and I was extremely put off by Coyne (and to a lesser extent Badu, thanks to her obsessive tweeting) over glitter-gate, but Embryonic is probably my second favorite Lips album, period, and Heady Fwends is insanely good.  The collab with Badu, to me, is the
