Agreed. I definitely enjoy watching some more recent shows over Seinfeld for the very reason you describe. But I still love Seinfeld both for its influence, and for reasons of pure nostalgia. It's kind of like the Velvet Underground of the sitcom world.

Does it really diminish it, though? Seinfeld was a reaction against the over-the-top neat and easy lessons and emotional beats of the sitcoms that came before it, and it has been hugely influential in moving television beyond the need to be easy in those ways.

I agree with Catgun and digifreak overall. My take—the narrative is flawed, there are a couple of infuriatingly stupid moments, and some of the thematic stuff is a bit muddled, but I genuinely enjoyed most of the film. It's not the sci fi masterpiece I wanted it to be, but I liked it just fine.
