Hey, has anyone listened to Bowie's self-titled debut? Nobody seems to ever talk about it, but I recently discovered the remastered version on Spotify, and it's half a great album. Like Bowie tried to make a Kinks record.

To be fair, it's a matter of degree: the extreme being Curb, where Larry provides just a 10 page rough outline, and the actual dialogue is improv'd.

Eh, I think it says much more about Apatow's (alleged) talents than structured vs. unstructured comedy. Louie, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and The Office (UK) all have a tossed off feel, and they're fucking genius.
