What is it with Ricks?

Here's a link to a screenplay by Carruth called "A Topiary," which he has apparently spent the better part of the last decade trying and failing to fund.

I was lucky enough to see this a month ago at its Santa Fe premiere with Shane Carruth in attendance.  He did a Q&A afterward.  Not only is he a truly incredible filmmaker, he's a funny, personable, and all-around cool guy.

I respect what Achebe was doing with Things Fall Apart, but I've thought that he fundamentally misunderstood Heart of Darkness.  Achebe seemed to think that that book was a positive portrayal of colonialism but Conrad goes out of his way over and over again to point out the horrors being perpetrated by the colonists.
