To be fair, the book you liked is about 'what it's like to be an asshole', so (if you wanted) you could replace "but" with "and", or maybe even "because" :)

Oh, I love Consider Phlebas. It's like he decided that any 'world building' was going to be as inventive and hilarious as he could make it, but would then be described in the grittiest and most down-to-earth terms. Giant city-sized holiday ships, yay! crashing into ice, yay!… but the actual text is all incompetent…

I was really pleased when he was cast as Boromir, because he plays weak so well. The creepy ex-soldier was the best bit of Ronin (didn't like it much).

Getting (I think) her BAFTA for The Iron Lady, in her speech Meryl Streep went out of her way to mention working with Olivia Colman - it sounded slightly 'pointed', like maybe she thought Colman didn't get mentioned enough.  I fully endorse, and am happy to contribute to, your Olivia Colman Appreciation Thread.
