I mean, the dude's manuscript is huge and so much of it is description of Scully, so I do think we're supposed to see it as excessive and a little nuts. It's possible that Chris Carter thought Padgett's prose was the most beautiful thing ever, but its cheesiness doesn't bother me in context because it's coming from a

Yup, agreed, and there is even a line from Padgett where he says that he was wrong about her character and misjudged her interest in him. So while he is observant in many respects, he totally misread her motivations and was just interpreting them through his own, warped perspective.

Hah, I actually really like this one. I thought that the narration was intentionally overdone because Padgett is weird and obsessive (and yes, I know Carter's own writing can be overdone but I thought it worked for the context here).

Yeah, I am sure it is an exaggeration. It sounds like something Lucille Bluth would say! There have been other stories floating around about Gillian being difficult with guest stars, however (I know Kathy Griffin has mentioned it) and I am sure she had her moments. From the outtakes I've seen, it definitely doesn't

They did announce titles, but I don't this most people paid attention unless they were pretty big fans, whereas now knowing the titles of TV show episodes seems pretty standard.

Wow, I'd always heard mixed things about Gillian, but that's incredibly disappointing. Hopefully she's mellowed out over the years.

I actually did remember that and checked the airdates and there had been a week of repeats. I also think that this started the final "end of season" run of episodes that would air back to back which was always exciting. It is funny to think how long a TV season stretched back then - now all of my favorites just air in

I pretty much agree completely with the review. This is a really weird episode, most notable for a really weird characterization of Scully. She comes across like a Mean Girl who belittles poor, weird Karin for daring to eye her man. I love how Scully gets "She's enamored of you, Mulder" from a half second of a

I agree - like this episode, didn't love it. I was an 17 year old shipper when it first aired, but even then, it didn't totally work for me. I thought that some of the "married couple" interaction was a little too sitcom-y and not really in character. Scully, in particular, seems so annoyed with Mulder (and I know

Season 6 is possibly my favorite season, but there are episodes I love (and weaknesses) in every season, so I always find that to be a tough game to play. Season 7 has, I think, fewer stand-out episodes than the previous six seasons, but I still like it overall and Je Souhaite and Requiem are classics.
