This movie is ridiculously bad - I didn't make it past the first 5 minutes. And I say that with lots of affection for both these girls; hopefully Alexis' sitcom will work out!
Your patience will be rewarded with some lovely Pace time, his character development is probably my favorite arc of the show. (And I love everything about this show.)
"I need help reacting to something." I wish my whole life couldn't be reflected in a series of Abed quotes, but yeah, I know how you feel about not knowing how to feel.
Phew! Thanks for that, I was worried about her! But just not liking a cross-country commute is a very sound and not sad reason for not being on every episode of a show.
I'm wondering about this too - some quick Googling didn't turn up any news mentions about Bishop's appearances being cut back this season, but I don't know what her contract is for. I'm also not sure why I'm so worried about this; I think I just wanted to make sure she's doing okay!
I'm going to just put it on the record (strictly for myself) that I don't think anything's going to happen between Jess and Nick. Much more story to be mined from maybe things being awkward for a little bit (or otherwise going totally unmentioned) and nothing more of this relationship happening for a very long time.…
That's because they are - because they're still great friends. It's what made the romance and makes the relationship so satisfying: they aren't just in love with each other, they like each other and make total sense together. The things that drive other people crazy about them are the things they like most about each…
I'm glad to see this, if only because when I saw the worst of 2012 list, I wondered where a lot of these deliberately mediocre movies were. I much prefer a movie that really reaches for something and belly flops disastrously, rather than something like ATM, which was probably written by a computer program and was…
And give some love to the National Film Registry for adding it to the list in December.
It's all good, I know it doesn't make sense to call out movies no one has seen. I just resent knowing about them, and it makes me more forgiving of your average drivel. And so I will look over at the random pile on my desk and make you all know about them too - 3 examples that pop right out at me as being Hollywood or…

I really feel like the AV Club needs to watch more bad movies- or at least refine their definition of bad. These are mostly at least competently made, in the way that you can tell why one shot follows another, and you can see the actors because they're lit. I don't know why I'm writing this really, I think I'm just…

I just want to thank you Todd, for a thoughtful discussion of a show that is still a bit scattered but has come to be one of my favorites, precisely for the reasons you described. And also thank you for continually putting thought, emotion and effort into pieces, even though you know a bunch of snarky commenters are…

Those are the best starting points - the entire bibliography of this second edition is listed as websites at the end, so if anything in particular interested you in the study you could just go to the source for more information. For film archiving history and general essential reading, the two go-to books are "Keepers…
Oh, you're welcome! I'm always happy when people are interested in what I do. I recommend both the editions of Digital Dilemma, they give a great overview of the situation and you don't need to be an expert to understand them. If you're really thinking about film preservation as a career, feel free to write to me at…
@Vadim: I know this doesn't really help with the availability of prints issue, exactly, but I just wanted to assure you that there are still quite good (if not pristine prints) of something like Never Let Me Go out there, being stored correctly and well taken care of. Sadly, archives that collect new releases can't…
That's not from the broadcast- this was a George Eastman House preservation project, they did a lovely job and supervised a lovely transfer; it looked great.
