Good questions. Anybody? Those old cars were gorgeous and, not a metaphor, notoriously temperamental. Broke down a lot. That's how the company lost their independence, eventually.

Nah, Zack. This is an industry that routinely uses sex to sell products. The problem with coming up with the Jaguar pitch was how far to take it, not whether. It's not a metaphor, it's a continuing issue in the advertising industry and a big part of their sleazy culture. From there to actually using actual sex to sell

They had alimony, but did Gregg have any money to pay it and child support? NY had :fault" laws, so part of how much a spouse had to pay for alimony depended on whose "fault" it was. Typical faults were adultery, abandonment, alien of affection (i.e., not utting out) and mental or physical cruelty. That's why it was

You must be kidding (and very tired) if you think Ray Davies is less sell-involved than anyone on planet Earth. Once the commercial producers got off his back, half of his songs are about how lonely and alienated he feels ("The taxman's taken all my dough . . ." etc etc). The ones that aren't (mostly nostalgia about

And really, how much fun can be to screw someone who just doesn't want to be there? Can the guy be that blind? Did he think giving her a present would make it OK? Is the point domination/possession, not the actual sex? I guess so, and that Ginsburg is pretty perceptive.

I love "Waterloo Sunset," too, but don't get carried away or you'll be an "Idiot Dunce.". For MM, probably a lot cheaper royalties for a show on a "Low Budget" after paying for "Tomorrow Never Knows."

They did not. I enjoy a lot  of the Kinks later work, but this stuff was just garage rock that hit the top of the UK charts for two weeks and does not measure up to what the Beatles were doing in 1964, when "You Really Got Me" was a hit, and certainly not in 1968.

He's old-school and finds it vulgar.

Yes, and that they did it in one show was some really terrific writing. All three are paying dues in different ways. Joan, after 13 years and some serious humiliation, gets equity. Megan, after only one or two years, does in a different way, but to her it is only a base for further exploration. Peggy, after 5 or so,

Come on, this is commerce. She probably came close to doubling her salary and got a more senior title. And she is still really young with vast potential. How much more triumphal do you think it gets in the business world?
