bands of full grown adults dumbing down their lyrics to appeal to 16 year olds? I've never heard of such a thing!

Nothing to Fear is the one that holds up best for me. 'Grey Matter', 'Nothing to Fear (But Fear Itself)', 'Whole Day Off', 'Islands'… all still great songs. It's their loudest and most musically intricate album too.

Whale had the good sense to quit before they jumped the shark.

'Spy Hard' kind of sucked, but I'll happily defend 'Wrongfully Accused' to my dying day. i still love that movie. That one was actually a Pat Proft film (writer of Naked Gun series/ Hot Shots); so joke-wise it is a step above most of the other 90's Nielsen-starred spoofs, and not tainted at all by Friedberg or Seltzer.

i think we have the same ex.

you can't trust any cost estimates by movie studios. they use creative accounting to pad up the costs of movies for tax-cheating purposes, and so they don't have to pay writers or actors who get a percentage of the movie's profit, because there's rarely ever a profit, according to them.

i think it flopped because no kid over the age of 6 wants to see a movie with the word "Mom" in the title.

@ronniiiiie Take a look at the instruction manual that came with the car stereo. sounds like you are using the default "control ipod through shitty non-intuitive controls on stereo" setting. There is usually an override setting that lets you control the iPod directly while plugged into the stereo's USB.

she look's perfectly fine for a 40-something (From the photo, that's what i'm assuming she is). but i don't get why there would be a news story about a mildly pretty middle-aged lady who thinks she's hot. Are there no pretty young women in Britain?

many of the alternate takes look pretty much the same, but the dialogue is slightly different since Will Ferrell improvised a lot. also, one of the added scenes has Christina Applegate sideboob. the alternate/original ending was pretty lame though.

the original wasn't quite enough for me. i even enjoyed 'Wake Up, Ron Burgundy', the (kinda rough) re-edited version using mostly alternate and deleted scenes and a different ending. I also still get a kick out of the retro-70's promo video for 'Afternoon Delight', starring the cast.

Avril Lavigne is 27. no need to feel creepy about it.

Gracie Allen was awesome. Also check out some of the movies she made in the 1930's. 'Here Comes Cookie' in particular is a comedy masterpiece.

One worth checking out is the early-1950's series 'Rocky Fortune', starring Frank Sinatra. He plays a guy who is always down on his luck, going from job to job, and usually ending up in trouble with the wrong people. Fast-paced action/ noir that's also pretty funny.

luckily for me I was too much of a music geek in HS, so my favorite songs from then will never get played on any oldies station, unless it is some obscure oldies format like "80's new wave/ college rock deep cuts"

what kind of magical land did you live in during the mid-80's? Where I lived, you couldn't turn on the radio or MTV without being audibly assaulted by spandex metal and power ballads. And it seemed like the worse it was, the more it got played. Radio listeners had terrible taste then, and now those same people are

Really? Not the boob-sucking scene?

in good Dave Foley news, his crowning cinematic achievement 'The Wrong Guy' is apparently available on Netflix again, for the first time in years. (on DVD, not streaming).

I believe That 70's Show jumped the shark in the first episode when they decided to be a laughtrack sitcom without any funny jokes. The show coasted for a few years on the likability of the cast, and many people actually enjoy unfunny sitcom-type shows (hence the popularity of most Disney Channel shows), but every

That was my gateway album to them and i loved it at the time. Though I could see how someone who had come to the album from, say, Nothing to Fear, might have  been disappointed in it. But if it was a bit too mainstream at times, i think it was a better attempt at radio/mtv-friendly material than their later albums.
